Aruba MEP demands clarity over Queen Beatrix’s notes on Betico Croes

Evelyn Wever-Croes, leader of the MEP and niece of Betico Croes, is demanding transparency from the Dutch government regarding personal notes made by Queen Beatrix concerning Betico Croes.

The notes contain the phrase, “Tijd winnen! Hij zal eens wegvallen. Dat afwachten,” which translates to “Win time! One day he will no longer be there. Wait for that.” Wever-Croes has raised concerns regarding the implications of these words, noting that such phrasing is typically used for the elderly rather than a healthy individual in their 40s.

Through the government of Aruba, the MEP has submitted inquiries to the Kingdom government to clarify the intent behind these remarks. The party is seeking to know if the Dutch government held specific policy notes, scenarios, or plans regarding the potential political absence of Croes at that time. Wever-Croes stated that the people of Aruba have a right to know the truth to ensure clarity regarding the historical struggle for Aruba’s ‘Status Aparte’.
