Aruba police detain Venezuelan man for suspected human trafficking

Aruban authorities have detained a 51-year-old Venezuelan man on suspicion of human trafficking. The arrest follows an investigation into a vessel that allegedly transported individuals from Venezuela to Aruba during the night of September 4-5.

The investigation is linked to the discovery of human remains near Boca Tabla (Bachelor’s Beach) in San Nicolas on September 7. Authorities are treating the case as human trafficking resulting in death, an offense that carries a potential prison sentence of up to 18 years.

During a judicial raid on the suspect's residence in Kuiperistraat, police discovered five other Venezuelan nationals. These individuals were taken into custody for questioning as the Aruba Police Force continues its investigation into the circumstances of the case.
