Aruba Public Works Minister launches transparency initiative

Aruba's Public Works Minister, René Herdé, has announced a transparency initiative following criticism regarding government services. The move comes after the Comerciantenan Uni di Aruba raised concerns about the Department of Public Works (DOW), specifically citing long delays in processing construction permits and plans, as well as the deteriorating state of roads across the island.

Minister Herdé intends to increase communication with various stakeholders, including the Aruba Chamber of Commerce and the Aruba Hotel and Tourism Association (AHATA). He stated that the ministry must move away from operating behind closed doors and should use public criticism to identify problems and implement improvements. Additionally, the minister highlighted the “Info di Infra” program as a channel for residents to submit questions and feedback directly to the ministry.
