Aruba reports budget surplus and reduced public debt

Aruba reported a strong financial performance for the first half of 2026. According to preliminary figures presented by Finance Minister Geoffrey Wever, the country generated Afl. 1.119 billion in revenue, an increase of approximately Afl. 86 million compared to the previous year.

The government reported a budget surplus of nearly Afl. 260 million. Key revenue drivers included tax income reaching Afl. 918 million, BBO/BAVP generating Afl. 232 million, and tourism tax rising by 18% to Afl. 63.1 million. Additionally, profit tax reached a record Afl. 252.4 million for the period.

Public debt has also seen a reduction. As of late June 2026, public debt stood at Afl. 5.022 billion, representing 62.2% of the GDP, down from 65.9% the previous year. During the first six months, approximately Afl. 345 million in debt was amortized.
