Aruba to host inaugural Culture Week in September

Aruba will host its inaugural Culture Week from September 19 to 26, organized by the Fundación Salvaguardia de la Herencia Cultural de Aruba (FSHCA) to mark its first anniversary. The event aims to strengthen national heritage through free public workshops, lectures, and activities covering art, music, theater, and culinary arts.

The program features experts from Curaçao, including Cesáreo Jean Louis, who will lead folklore dance sessions, and Ruby Eckmeyer, who will discuss the creation of national costumes. René Rosalia, a pioneer of Culture Week in Curaçao, is scheduled to present his new book, ‘Dalia’, and discuss the historical significance of the term in regional music.

A key focus of the week is the revival of the Quadrilla dance, which has declined in popularity over the years. The festivities will conclude with a cultural manifestation at the San Nicolas School of Art.
