Aruba to host UNESCO biosphere meeting in late November

Aruba will host a regional Man and the Biosphere (MAB) meeting on November 30 and December 1, 2026. The event aims to strengthen Caribbean cooperation regarding conservation and sustainable development.

A public information session is scheduled for November 30 to explain the MAB programme and its specific role within Aruba. A panel consisting of United Nations experts, environmental specialists, and tourism professionals will discuss methods for the coexistence of conservation and development through informed decision-making.

The meeting follows Aruba receiving its UNESCO designation on June 5, 2026. Local conservation efforts, such as reforestation at Parke Arikok and the Turning the Tide restoration project, highlight the island's focus on protecting land and sea ecosystems, including mangroves, seagrass, and coral reefs.
