The makers of the upcoming Hindi-language epic film ‘Ramayana’ have unveiled a character poster featuring veteran actor Arun Govil as King Dashrath, the ruler of Ayodhya. The casting is noted for its nostalgic value, as Govil is widely recognized for his previous portrayal of Lord Ram in a celebrated television adaptation of the same epic.

Directed by Nitesh Tiwari and co-written with Shridhar Raghavan, the film is planned as the first part of a two-part cinematic saga. The ensemble cast includes Ranbir Kapoor as Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Ravana, and Sunny Deol as Hanuman. The production is backed by Namit Malhotra’s Prime Focus Studios in association with DNEG and Yash’s Monster Mind Creations.

‘Ramayana: Part 1’ is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on 6 November 2026, coinciding with the Diwali period.
