Arun Hemachandra addresses religious rights and hospital regulations

Arun Hemachandra, the State Minister of Foreign Employment and Foreign Affairs, has stated that administrative decisions in multi-ethnic and multi-religious regions, such as the Eastern Province, must be made with social sensitivity and high responsibility.

Addressing recent controversies regarding regulations at the Kalmunai North Base Hospital, the Minister clarified that the disputed circulars were not introduced by the current government. He noted that discussions have already begun to review such regulations to ensure they balance legal requirements, professional needs, religious rights, and individual dignity.

Hemachandra emphasized that respecting religious and cultural rights is a long-standing progressive stance of his political lineage. He further cautioned against individuals attempting to exploit administrative issues to incite ethnic and religious tensions for political gain.
