Arunachal Pradesh girl's viral video defends Indian identity

A viral video featuring Karga Tinkle Gongo, a four-year-old girl from Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh, has sparked widespread discussion regarding ethnic stereotyping in India. The video shows the child emotionally asserting her Indian identity after being referred to as Chinese by a social media user due to her physical appearance.

In the footage, Karga Tinkle expresses that being called Chinese makes her and her family feel hurt and angry. She requests that people address her with her correct nationality, stating, “Please don’t call us Chinese, we are Indian.” Her mother noted that the incident occurred after a social media comment questioned why a “Chinese child” was speaking Hindi.
