Arunachal Pradesh initiates kiwi fruit trial shipment to Dubai
Arunachal Pradesh has launched a trial shipment of kiwi fruit to Dubai to explore international horticulture markets. A 1.5-tonne consignment from Ziro was flagged off at the Arunachal Pradesh Civil Secretariat to be displayed at LuLu Hypermarket LLC outlets in the United Arab Emirates.
The initiative is a collaborative effort between the state’s Departments of Trade and Commerce and Horticulture, alongside the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) under the Arunachal Kiwi Project. The trial aims to assess market response, understand buyer expectations, and establish sustainable export channels for the state’s highland orchards.
Horticulture Minister Gabriel D. Wangsu emphasized that while the shipment opens a potential door to global markets, long-term success will depend on maintaining product quality, consistency, and improving post-harvest management, including grading, packaging, and storage.
