Arunachal Pradesh issues dengue advisory amid fever upsurge
Health authorities in Arunachal Pradesh have issued an advisory for the early detection of dengue cases following an upsurge in sudden, short-term fever instances. The advisory, released by the Itanagar Capital Region district medical officer, Dr C Lowang Mallo, urges residents to take immediate preventive measures and seek medical attention if symptoms appear.
To prevent mosquito breeding, locals are advised to eliminate stagnant water, clean water coolers and tanks regularly, and keep water storage containers covered. Recommended personal protections include using mosquito repellents, mosquito nets, installing window screens, and wearing full-sleeved clothing.
The health department specifically cautioned against self-medication, advising individuals to avoid taking aspirin, ibuprofen, or steroids without professional medical guidance. Common symptoms of the vector-borne disease include headache, body ache, joint pain, rashes, and pain behind the eyes.
