Arundhati Choudhary wins 70kg boxing gold at Commonwealth Games 2026

Arundhati Choudhary, a 22‑year‑old Havildar from Kota, Rajasthan, left her IIT preparation to pursue boxing. After battling a wrist fracture, ankle injury and a head trauma that kept her out of competition for up to two years, she returned to the ring under coach Ashok Gautam.

At the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Choudhary defeated New Zealand’s Morgan Henderson in the quarter‑finals and Wales’ defending champion Rosie Eklas in the semi‑finals. In the final she beat England’s Shanthi Reed 5‑0 to claim the women’s 70 kg gold medal, adding to India’s boxing haul and sparking hopes of Olympic success.
