Arusha Airport completes runway lighting project

Arusha Regional Commissioner Amos Gabriel Makalla has announced the completion of the runway lighting project at Arusha Airport. The project fulfills a campaign promise made by President Samia Suluhu Hassan to the residents of the Arusha region.

Makalla stated that the new lighting infrastructure will enable 24-hour airport operations, which is expected to boost tourism, business, and investment in the region. The upgrade is also a critical component of preparations for Arusha to host the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) assembly in October and the AFCON 2027 football tournament.

Arusha Airport Manager Edgar Mwankuga noted that the ability to operate around the clock will increase revenue for both the regional and national governments.
