Arusha medical camp saves 2bn/- in overseas treatment costs

A medical camp held at JKCI-ALMC Hospital in Arusha has saved the government an estimated 2 billion Tanzanian shillings in overseas treatment costs. More than 300 patients received specialist and super-specialist services locally, which would have otherwise required travel to India.

The camp was organized by Global Medicare in collaboration with several institutions, including Apollo Hospital of India, Muhimbili National Hospital, and Benjamin Mkapa Hospital. Services provided included neurological surgery, orthopaedics, kidney disease management, and heart disease consultations. While preliminary tests and consultations were free, patients requiring further treatment could utilize health insurance or pay for additional services.
