Arvid Lindblad warns of future F1 rookie disadvantages

Racing Bulls driver Arvid Lindblad has suggested that Formula 1 rookies entering the sport from 2027 onwards may face a significant disadvantage compared to current drivers.

Lindblad noted that the radical changes to cars and power units introduced in 2026 created a unique, level playing field where even veterans like Lewis Hamilton had to learn entirely new skills. He argued that while the current transition period is neutral, the advantage will shift as the existing grid gains experience with the new technology. Once the current drivers become accustomed to the 2026 specifications, future newcomers will lack the opportunity to learn alongside the field during a period of technical upheaval.

Lindblad has had a strong debut season, scoring points in seven of his first eleven races and currently sitting 11th in the championship with 23 points. His best results include seventh-place finishes in Monaco and Silverstone.
