As Burgas Market merchants seek return to permanent building after eight years

Merchants of the As Burgas Market in Ourense have expressed exhaustion after spending eight years in a provisional building. The traders claim the current facility lacks necessary conditions and occupies the central promenade of the Alameda, impacting the area's leisure use.

The conflict follows a previous eviction decree issued by Mayor Gonzalo Pérez Jácome, which was subsequently halted by a judge. A multidisciplinary technical team, coordinated by architect Paula Feijóo Calviño, has submitted a new project to the court and relevant water and heritage authorities. This proposal aims to complete the essential installations and equipment required to allow commercial activity to return to the permanent market building.
