A.S. Karditsa outlines new season strategy amid internal dispute

A.S. Karditsa held a press conference at the New Indoor Gymnasium to outline its strategic goals and organizational restructuring ahead of the upcoming basketball season. President Christos Deligiannis highlighted the club’s focus on sustainability, smart management, and cooperation with local businesses to avoid reliance on a single sponsor. The club has expanded its board and strengthened its commercial and academy departments, while prioritizing the retention of head coach Nikos Papanikolopoulos.

However, the event was marked by a public dispute between A.S. Karditsa Vice President Vasilis Tsigaras and former player and administrator Giannis Bourousis. During the briefing, Tsigaras criticized Bourousis, labeling him a ‘tourist’ and accusing him of using ‘fascist methods’ to influence the team. Bourousis responded via a lengthy statement on social media, condemning the remarks as unprovoked and offensive.
