AS Monaco Basket appeals to CNOSF for league survival
AS Monaco Basket has filed an urgent appeal with the French National Olympic and Sports Committee (CNOSF) to secure its participation in the Nationale 1, France's third-division basketball championship.
The club's inclusion was previously rejected by the French Basketball Federation (FFBB) due to what officials described as “insufficient guarantees” regarding the club's financial situation. Specifically, the federation's management control commission cited a lack of certified accounts to prove the sincerity and reliability of the club's finances.
Legal counsel for the club, Xavier Le Cerf-Galle, stated that the missing documentation, including the required certification of accounts, has since been obtained. The club is also bolstered by new primary shareholder Thomas Kurk, who has reportedly injected 1.5 million euros into the organization. The outcome of the CNOSF conciliation hearing will determine if the club can compete in the third division, a decision that impacts over 25 employees and various contractors.
