AS Monaco Basket appeals to CNOSF to secure return to Betclic Élite

AS Monaco Basket has filed an official complaint with the French National Olympic and Sports Committee (CNOSF) in an attempt to secure its return to the Betclic Élite professional basketball league. The club is facing severe financial difficulties, which led the DNCCG and the FFBB Appeals Chamber to prohibit its engagement in both Elite and Elite 2 levels.

The club’s rescue plan centers on a takeover and recapitalization led by Helen Holdings, a consortium headed by former NBA player Jamal Mashburn. Negotiations with Mashburn’s team have intensified, and an agreement with the Monégasque government has reportedly been reached. Additionally, alternative investment avenues involving Ronaldinho and the Andorran fund Clayton Sport have emerged.

A hearing before the CNOSF has been moved up to August 20 to allow the club to present its case. The session will be held via videoconference and will include representatives from the club, the LNB, the DNCCG, and the FFBB.
