AS Monaco Basket applies for French third-tier NM1 membership

AS Monaco Basket, known as the Roca Team, has announced its intention to apply for participation in the Nationale Masculine 1 (NM1), the third tier of French basketball. This decision follows multiple failed appeals to remain in France’s top two divisions due to financial challenges and the lack of a restructuring plan for the 2025-2026 season.

In addition to the domestic setback, the club has been officially excluded from the EuroCup. Bosna BH Telecom Sarajevo has been named as the replacement for Monaco in the European competition.

The club stated its goal is to “regain its place at the top of French basketball” through sport and determination. As part of a rebuilding strategy, the team plans to rely heavily on its youth academy. The club faces significant uncertainty regarding whether its NM1 application will be approved and how it will construct a viable squad under new economic constraints.
