AS Monaco Basketball readies 2026‑27 season as Helen Holdings takeover looms
AS Monaco Basketball is preparing for the 2026‑27 season while awaiting a decision from the French Basketball Federation’s Appeal Chamber, expected after 27 July. The club’s potential revival hinges on a takeover project led by Helen Holdings, a group headed by former NBA player Jamal Mashburn.
If approved, the takeover would give the club a budget slightly above €10 million, allowing it to rebuild the squad with a focus on French internationals and meet the league’s domestic‑player requirements. The team is targeting players such as winger Juhann Begarin, former captain Yakuba Ouattara, guard Joël Ayayi and forward Mathis Dossou‑Yovo. Approval would also enable Monaco to compete in France’s Betclic Elite and the EuroCup.
Previously, the DNCCG rejected Monaco’s entry into Betclic Elite for the 2026‑27 season due to insufficient financial guarantees. Management continues to persuade the authorities and finalize the takeover documentation.
