Monaco defeats Liverpool 3-2 at Anfield after comeback

AS Monaco secured a 3-2 comeback victory against Liverpool in a pre-season friendly at Anfield. Liverpool took an early 2-0 lead through goals from Alexander Isak and Florian Wirtz, but Monaco responded with goals from Aleksandr Golovin, Mika Biereth, and a late header from Paris Brunner to win the match.

Liverpool manager Andoni Iraola expressed concerns regarding his squad's fitness and ability to maintain high intensity for a full 90 minutes. This defeat marks the second consecutive pre-season match where Liverpool squandered a two-goal lead, following a 4-2 loss to Leeds. Iraola noted that while the team showed strength in the opening 30 minutes, they struggled to sustain that level as fatigue set in.

Monaco, led by Filipe Luís, demonstrated resilience to overturn the deficit. Liverpool's preparations continue with a fixture against Como before they begin their Premier League campaign against Newcastle on August 23.
