Bosna Sarajevo replaces AS Monaco in EuroCup

Euroleague Basketball has announced that BOSNA BH Telecom Sarajevo will replace AS Monaco in Group 4 of the BKT EuroCup for the 2026-27 season. The decision follows a determination that AS Monaco failed to meet the necessary requirements set by the official EuroCup regulations.

AS Monaco is facing a severe financial crisis. Following the rejection of their final appeal by the French federation, the club will not participate in the Betclic Elite or Elite 2 professional leagues for the 2026-27 period. Reports indicate the club may be forced to compete in the third-tier Nationale Masculine 1, which is not part of the professional system. In an attempt to find a competitive outlet, Monaco has reportedly offered 500,000 euros to the Adriatic League to secure a special invitation, though organizational constraints regarding the league's 20-team limit pose a significant hurdle.

BOSNA BH Telecom Sarajevo, the current champion of Bosnia and Herzegovina, returns to the EuroCup for the first time since the 2007-08 season. They will join Group 4, which includes Bahcesehir College Istanbul, Balkan Botevgrad, Kids&Us Manresa, Lietkabelis Panevezys, PAOK Thessaloniki, ratiopharm ulm, and Roma Basketball. Sarajevo is scheduled to play its first EuroCup match on September 30 against Lietkabelis.
