AS Monaco expands digital reach in Morocco and Algeria
AS Monaco has significantly expanded its digital presence in North Africa through targeted content strategies during the 2025-2026 season. By utilizing geo-fencing technology on Facebook, the club gained 258,000 new followers in Morocco and Algeria, accounting for 20% of its total new Facebook subscribers for the period.
This geo-fencing approach allows the club to maintain a centralized official account while tailoring specific posts to local audiences based on language, cultural references, and specific players of interest. This strategy is part of a broader expansion into the African continent; in sub-Saharan Africa, the club gained 664,000 new Facebook followers, representing 50% of its total recruitment on the platform.
Similar trends are observed across French football. Ligue 1 gained 2.5 million Facebook followers in Africa, representing 66% of its annual recruitment, and achieved 5.2 million new followers and 578 million views on TikTok through a mix of global and localized content.
