AS Monaco loses EuroLeague spot due to debt

AS Monaco has lost its place in the EuroLeague due to significant financial instability. Despite winning four French titles in 2026, the club faces a debt of 24 million euros, leading to its administrative relegation.

Following several failed appeals to the French Basketball Federation and the French National Olympic and Sports Committee (CNOSF), the club's request to compete in the NM1 (the third tier) was also denied due to a lack of financial guarantees.

Besiktas, the EuroCup runner-up, will take Monaco's place in the EuroLeague, marking the Turkish club's return to the competition for the first time since the 2012-13 season.
