AS Monaco negotiates with Cruz Azul for Erik Lira

AS Monaco has initiated formal negotiations with Cruz Azul for the transfer of Mexican midfielder Erik Lira. While Monaco submitted an initial offer, Cruz Azul reportedly rejected it because the amount was considered too low compared to their expectations.

Lira previously rejected a significant offer from Al Jazira in the United Arab Emirates, as the player prioritizes a move to Europe. The completion of the transfer to the French club currently depends on Monaco resolving the departure of American striker Folarin Balogun. Selling Balogun would free up a non-community player slot, which Monaco intends to use for Lira.
