AS Monaco targets winter departures to balance squad
AS Monaco is preparing for player departures during the upcoming winter transfer window to address financial constraints and squad imbalances. General Manager Thiago Scuro expressed dissatisfaction with the summer transfer period, noting that several major intended sales failed to materialize.
Key players potentially facing exits include Folarin Balogun and Lamine Camara. Monaco had previously reached an agreement with Everton for Balogun, but the American striker declined the move. Similarly, a transfer for Camara to Chelsea did not conclude. The club aims to reduce its offensive squad size to comply with financial regulations and rebalance the roster.
Additionally, midfielder Aleksandr Golovin remains a subject of significant interest. Despite official proposals from Russian clubs Zenit St. Petersburg and Spartak Moscow—including a €19 million offer from Spartak that was rejected—as well as interest from Saudi Arabian clubs Al-Ahli and Neon SC, Golovin remained with the club due to disagreements over salary and contractual terms.
