Francesco Totti reveals rejected Serie A offers at age 48

In his new autobiography, ‘Oltre’, former AS Roma captain Francesco Totti revealed that he was offered opportunities to return to Serie A at the age of 48. The Italian football legend disclosed that both Genoa and Como approached him with offers to play.

Totti noted that the managers at the time were Alberto Gilardino at Genoa and Cesc Fabregas at Como. Despite preparing physically through intense training and strict dieting to prove he could still compete, he ultimately declined the offers. He explained that his decision was driven by his deep emotional connection to AS Roma, stating that his heart would not allow him to wear the jersey of any other club. He described the choice as a matter of loyalty, noting that ‘sporting betrayal has no age, whether you are 18 or 48’.

The book also touches upon his personal life, including his relationship with Noemi Bocchi and his reflections on his high-profile separation from Ilary Blasi, though he noted legal restrictions prevent him from sharing further details regarding the latter.
