AS Roma escort officer injured in accident before Atalanta match

A police officer was seriously injured in a motorcycle accident while escorting the AS Roma team bus to the Stadio Olimpico ahead of their match against Atalanta. The collision occurred at the intersection of via Baldo degli Ubaldi and via Pieralice when a local police motorcycle, traveling against traffic to lead the convoy, struck an automobile. The 63-year-old officer sustained serious injuries but is not reported to be in life-threatening condition.

The accident caused traffic delays and tension within the team's preparations. Following the match, a separate confrontation occurred between AS Roma sporting director Tony D’Amico and Atalanta CEO Luca Percassi. AS Roma issued a statement condemning Percassi’s behavior as ‘unacceptable’ and announced that the incident would be referred to sports justice authorities.
