Leonardo Balerdi makes impact at AS Roma amid complex transfer terms

AS Roma defender Leonardo Balerdi has made a strong impact following his move from Marseille. Manager Gian Piero Gasperini has praised the Argentine's professionalism and compared his playing style—specifically his recovery speed and intensity—to that of Franco Baresi.

Details of Balerdi's transfer reveal a complex agreement with Marseille. Roma holds an option to purchase the defender for 14 million euros at the end of the season. This option could become a mandatory obligation if Balerdi meets specific playing time thresholds, such as appearing in 55% of matches. Alternatively, the cost could be reduced to 9 million euros if he plays between 20% and 55% of the matches in the second half of the season.

In preparation for the upcoming match against Inter Milan, Gasperini is evaluating defensive lineups. While Balerdi is expected to feature, the coaching staff is also considering tactical options involving players like Hermoso, Ndicka, and Lulli to manage the high intensity required for the fixture.
