Infrastructure and sports developments across Italy and UK
Various infrastructure and sports developments are underway across Italy and the UK. In the sports sector, Manchester City has been found responsible by the Premier League for financial violations between 2009 and 2018, involving the misrepresentation of sponsorship revenue. Meanwhile, several Italian football clubs are advancing stadium projects: AS Roma has received approval for a new stadium in Pietralata, despite local opposition, with construction aimed for 2027. Hellas Verona has presented a 300-million-euro multifunctional stadium plan, and Bologna FC 1909 has reached an agreement with BolognaFiere for a 35,000-seat facility expected by 2031.
In terms of regional support, the Lazio Region has launched several initiatives, including the ‘Spazio Sport 2026’ and ‘Energia Sportiva’ programs, to fund sports facility upgrades and energy efficiency. Additionally, a 1.5-million-euro fund has been announced to provide sports equipment for people with disabilities.
Road maintenance and safety projects are also active. The Fi-Pi-Li highway is set for expansion between Scandicci and Lastra a Signa by 2027. In Potenza, a 3-million-euro plan targets rural road safety, while Ferrara has launched a major signage improvement program. Other localized works include maintenance on the SS309 Romea, the A1 motorway near Ferentino and Anagni, and the Aurelia highway near Varazze.
