AS Saint-Etienne president Ivan Gazidis outlines long-term club vision
Ivan Gazidis, president of AS Saint-Etienne, has outlined a long-term vision for the club that emphasizes financial stability and sustainable growth over immediate, aggressive spending.
Addressing the club's ownership structure, Gazidis noted that while Kilmer Sports Ventures is currently implementing a development project, owner Larry Tanenbaum views himself as a “guardian” rather than a permanent owner. Gazidis stated, “We will not be here forever. The club and the supporters, they will be.” He clarified that there is no imminent departure planned, but rather a phased approach to building the club's potential.
Gazidis also pushed back against comparisons labeling the club as the “PSG of Ligue 2.” Despite significant previous investments in transfers, he emphasized that the goal is not to sacrifice long-term health for immediate promotion. Instead, the focus remains on creating a self-sufficient club capable of producing its own success through investments in infrastructure, staff, and nutrition.
