AS Saint-Étienne leads Ligue 2 as FC Nantes struggles
AS Saint-Étienne (ASSE) is currently leading Ligue 2, maintaining a nine-point advantage over FC Nantes. Former ASSE president Roland Romeyer expressed confidence in the club's promotion to Ligue 1, while describing the current situation at FC Nantes as “catastrophic” following their poor start to the season and recent coaching changes.
Ahead of ASSE's upcoming match against Rodez AF on October 10, Rodez goalkeeper Quentin Braat has confirmed his return to collective training following a calf injury. Braat has historically been a difficult opponent for ASSE, notably performing well during their previous playoff encounter.
Additionally, ASSE plans to hold a friendly match during the international break to maintain player fitness. While the match is expected to take place in Saint-Étienne, potentially against Swiss club FC Sion, it will not be held at the Geoffroy-Guichard stadium due to ongoing pitch maintenance work.
