As-Suwayda Governor calls for serious dialogue with Syrian state
Mustafa al-Bakour, the Governor of As-Suwayda, has called for serious dialogue with the Syrian state to address the ongoing suffering of local residents. In a series of messages to the community, al-Bakour emphasized that the province requires concrete steps to restore stability and alleviate the burdens of displacement, poverty, and fear.
Al-Bakour stressed that engaging in dialogue does not imply a surrender of rights or the forgetting of grievances. He argued that any reconciliation process must be built on real guarantees, justice, and the rule of law to rebuild trust between the parties involved. He urged local notables and wise figures to prepare the conditions necessary for such discussions.
Warning against the risks of the current status quo, the Governor noted that pursuing unknown paths could lead to consequences beyond the community's ability to endure. He maintained that the Syrian government is open to dialogue and resolving disputes through legal frameworks to ensure the dignity and security of the population.
