AS Vita Club faces leadership crisis and match postponement
AS Vita Club is experiencing a severe institutional crisis following disputed elections held on September 18. The conflict involves two competing leadership factions: the winner of the Supreme Council elections, Sylvestre Makambo, and the outgoing management committee led by Flory Mapamboli.
In response to the internal instability, interim president Flory Mapamboli has officially resigned, effective October 20. In his resignation letter, Mapamboli stated his decision was made in the interest of the club to allow focus to return to sporting priorities and to protest administrative irregularities that compromised the association's functioning.
To mitigate potential security incidents and allow time for dispute resolution, Sports Minister Didier Budimbu has requested that the LINAFOOT executive committee postpone the club's first two Linafoot Ligue 1 matches, which were originally scheduled to begin on October 21 against FC Renaissance du Congo.
