AS Vita Club interim president denies resignation amid leadership crisis
Flory Mapamboli, the interim president of AS Vita Club in Kinshasa, addressed the ongoing leadership crisis during a press conference on September 26, 2026. Mapamboli denied rumors regarding his resignation, stating, “I am not here to resign.” He warned that the club would pursue legal action against anyone using the AS Vita Club name without authorization.
During the briefing, Mapamboli announced new appointments, including Lambert Hassani as president of the football section and Colonel Charly Kasongo as president of the judo section. He explained that the scheduled elective general assembly could not proceed as planned due to intervention by the Direction des Activités Physiques et Sportives (DAPS).
The club remains in a state of instability as the Linafoot championship approaches. Previous attempts to hold elections were canceled by the Ministry of Sports via DAPS. Tensions have escalated within the club, with supporters reportedly burning tires at the Tata Raphaël stadium in protest of the ongoing uncertainty and internal conflicts between factions.
