Asa Butterfield stars in horror-comedy Gnomes

Actor Asa Butterfield, known for his role in ‘Sex Education’, is receiving praise for his performance in the new film ‘Gnomes’. Moving away from his previous shy persona, Butterfield portrays Arnold Kipps, a police officer in the small Australian town of Nompton.

The plot follows Arnold as his life is disrupted by the return of his former colleague and lover, Ellie McKay. Amidst professional instability and the threat of the local police force being disbanded, an evil force awakens, causing garden gnomes to come to life and attack the townspeople.

Butterfield described the film as having a 1990s horror-parody spirit with fast-paced editing reminiscent of ‘Hot Fuzz’. He noted that the role required balancing serious action with absurd, humorous moments, particularly when facing the small but menacing statues.
