Asaduddin Owaisi criticizes Allahabad HC hijab ruling
AIMIM President Asaduddin Owaisi has criticized a recent Allahabad High Court ruling that dismissed a petition by a student seeking permission to wear a hijab with her school uniform. Owaisi characterized the verdict as an ‘attack on Islam’ and argued it violates Articles 19 and 25 of the Indian Constitution, questioning the court's authority to determine essential religious practices while the Supreme Court is still deliberating on similar matters.
The High Court had previously ruled that the student failed to prove the hijab is an essential part of the Islamic faith and maintained that schools have the authority to enforce uniform dress codes to ensure discipline and non-discrimination.
During a gathering in Hyderabad, Owaisi also directed criticism toward the RSS and BJP, alleging they have historically prioritized the Manusmriti over the Constitution. Additionally, Owaisi addressed local issues in Telangana, including the need for anti-murder squads in Hyderabad and an appeal to youth to avoid drug addiction.
