Asaduddin Owaisi confronts BJP over Article 370 and madrasa remarks

India's opposition leader Asaduddin Owaisi criticised the BJP's handling of Jammu and Kashmir, questioning the abrogation of Article 370 and alleging that militant activity continues. He called the constitutional change "unconstitutional" and urged the restoration of the region's special status.

In response, Telangana BJP chief spokesperson N.V. Subhash accused Owaisi and other regional leaders of being unable to accept the peace and development in Jammu and Kashmir, saying they have lost credibility. Subhash added that "everyone is happy except Asaduddin Owaisi, Mehbooba Mufti and other leaders".

Separately, Owaisi rebuked Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya for his comments on madrasas, labeling them "divisive and unconstitutional". He defended the institutions, citing Article 30 of the Constitution and their historic contribution to India's independence, and warned that the BJP was weaponising hatred for political gain.
