Asaduddin Owaisi criticizes UCC and NRC implementation
AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi has criticized the central government's push for a Uniform Civil Code (UCC), alleging it is an attempt to impose Hindu laws on non-Hindu communities and target Muslims. Owaisi argued that the UCC contradicts the constitutional principles of religious freedom and specific protections under Articles 14, 25, 26, and 29.
Owaisi also expressed deep concern regarding the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) and the potential implementation of the National Register of Citizens (NRC). He stated that the SIR process is already causing significant hardship for minorities, SC/ST communities, and migrants, and warned that an NRC would be far more devastating, forcing citizens to prove their identity through extensive documentation.
Additionally, Owaisi raised questions regarding India-China relations, claiming that India has lost certain patrolling points to China. He accused the government of attempting to normalize relations despite China providing military assistance to Pakistan during Operation Sindoor.
