ASAE seizes 20,000 liters of wine in Gouveia over labeling violations
The Economic and Food Safety Authority (ASAE) seized 20,226 liters of red, white, and rosé wine from a producer-wholesaler in the municipality of Gouveia, Guarda district. The seizure was part of the “Rótulo Seguro” operation, which aimed to verify compliance with regulations in the wine sector.
The seized wine, which was bottled and ready for market, lacked mandatory labeling information, specifically regarding the origin of the product. ASAE stated that such non-compliance compromises commercial integrity, creates unfair competition, and poses a risk to consumer safety. An administrative offense process has been initiated against the economic operator.
