ASAJA demands 30-day payment terms for pistachio farmers

ASAJA Castilla-La Mancha is calling on the Food Information and Control Agency (AICA) to supervise pistachio commercialization contracts and ensure compliance with legal payment deadlines. The organization argues that because pistachios are fresh and perishable products, payments must be made within a maximum of 30 days from delivery.

ASAJA warns that some entities are attempting to bypass the Food Chain Law by using alternative contract names, such as “collaboration agreements” or “industrial collaboration,” to avoid legal obligations. Additionally, the organization has highlighted concerns regarding the lack of standardized criteria for calculating pistachio yield and losses during processing, requesting objective and verifiable parameters for farmers.
