ASAJA denounces proposed harvesting bans in Castilla-La Mancha

The agricultural organization ASAJA Castilla-La Mancha has denounced a proposal by the regional government to elevate harvesting prohibitions to the status of law during periods of extreme wildfire risk.

The measure would mandate restrictions on agricultural work when the Forest Fire Danger Index (IPP) reaches orange or red levels. ASAJA argues that making these restrictions permanent through legislation, rather than temporary administrative measures, would paralyze harvests during heatwaves and threaten the viability of the agricultural sector, stating it could be “the greatest attack against the agricultural sector in history.”
