ASAJA Murcia demands rectification from AILIMPO over lemon harvest disputes

ASAJA Murcia has demanded a public rectification from the Interprofessional Association of Lemon and Grapefruit, AILIMPO, following accusations that the agricultural organization has been spreading ‘fake news’. The dispute stems from discrepancies between the harvest forecasts provided by ASAJA Murcia and those issued by other sector entities regarding the upcoming lemon crop.

Juan de Dios Hernández, president of ASAJA Murcia, described the accusations against the organization’s professionalism and independence as ‘intolerable’. He emphasized that while different entities may use different methodologies or arrive at varying figures, such disagreements do not constitute the dissemination of false information. ASAJA Murcia noted that its forecasts are estimates based on available data and direct contact with farmers, which can fluctuate due to meteorological and agronomic factors.
