Andre Ayew criticizes Otto Addo dismissal timing

Former Ghana national team captain Andre Ayew has criticized the timing of coach Otto Addo’s dismissal. Speaking on the ‘Obi One Podcast’, Ayew argued that Addo should have been sacked much earlier, specifically following Ghana’s failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Ayew noted that while Addo successfully guided the Black Stars to the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the decision to retain him after the AFCON setback was problematic. He also addressed his own omission from the 2026 World Cup squad, stating that while he felt wronged by certain individuals within the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and the media, he chose to remain silent out of respect for his country.

Regarding his professional future, the 36-year-old revealed he is currently negotiating with two or three clubs to continue his playing career. Additionally, Ayew disclosed that he has served as the CEO of FC Nania, a club founded by his father Abedi Pele, for several years. This revelation comes amid speculation regarding his potential interest in future football administration roles in Ghana.
