Asan Foundation announces 38th Asan Prize winners
The Asan Foundation has announced the recipients of the 38th Asan Prize. Dentists Kang Ji-heon and Ju Su-gyeong were selected for their 30 years of dedicated medical and educational volunteer work in Ukraine, Mongolia, and Malawi. Kang has focused on providing dental care and training local professionals, while Ju has established programs like ‘Mother Schools’ to support women’s independence and the ‘Chisomo Child Support Center’ to assist vulnerable children.
Other major awardees include Park Chul-seong, who received the Medical Service Award for 32 years of treating patients with disabilities and epilepsy, as well as conducting medical work in the Philippines and Nepal. Kim Hyun-soo received the Social Service Award for 34 years of providing psychological support to at-risk youth, the homeless, and victims of the Sewol ferry disaster.
The awards ceremony will be held on November 25 at the Asan Institute for Life Sciences in Seoul. A total of 1 billion won in prize money will be distributed among 18 winners across six categories.
