Onosato wins sixth Grand Sumo championship

Grand Sumo Tournament Onosato Aonishiki Kitonomiyawaka Ryogoku Kokugikan

At the Grand Sumo Autumn Tournament final day at Ryogoku Kokugikan, Yokozuna Onosato secured his sixth career championship. After a period of intense competition, Onosato defeated Ozeki Aonishiki in a decisive head-to-head match to finish with a 12-3 record.

In the Juryo division, Kitonomiyawaka claimed his first championship by winning a three-way playoff against Kagaya and Kagayaki. This victory marks a significant milestone for the 25-year-old wrestler.

The tournament also saw high stakes for individual promotions and rankings. Sekiwake Atamifuji faced a critical moment in his bid for Ozeki promotion, struggling to maintain momentum after a series of losses. Meanwhile, former Ozeki Asanoyama showed a resurgence, securing double-digit wins and remaining in contention for the title until the final stages.
