Asante youth group defends Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh for 2028 elections

An Asante youth group has challenged journalist Nana Jantuah regarding his reported opposition to Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, known as NAPO, serving as Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s running mate in the 2028 general elections.

Representing the group, George Oppong Peprah questioned Jantuah’s involvement in the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) internal affairs, citing the journalist's perceived hostility toward the party. The group argued that NAPO remains the NPP’s best candidate due to his experience as the former Minister for Education and Minister for Energy.

Mr. Peprah stated that replacing NAPO would be a political miscalculation and urged the party leadership to prioritize political strength and electoral prospects over external commentary.
