ASB Wünschewagen fulfills North Sea trip for cancer patient
A 60-year-old woman named Elke, suffering from a severe cancer diagnosis, fulfilled her final wish of visiting the North Sea through the ASB Wünschewagen project in Lower Saxony.
The ASB Wünschewagen provides free, donation-funded trips for patients and their companions. These specialized vehicles are equipped with air suspension, panoramic windows, and medical emergency equipment, including oxygen and defibrillators. The trips are facilitated by trained volunteer nursing and rescue personnel.
Elke, described by the team as a lifelong caregiver, had been struggling with declining health and frequent hospitalizations since her diagnosis a year ago. Her wish to return to the sea was coordinated through the Hospice Group Stade.
