ASB Wünschewagen fulfills terminal patient's final wish to visit Domburg

The ASB Wünschewagen (Wish Wagon) program, operated by the Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund, fulfilled the final wish of a terminally ill woman from the Rhineland by taking her on a trip to Domburg on the Dutch North Sea coast.

Accompanied by her son, a friend, and trained volunteers, the woman traveled approximately four hours to reunite with her grandchildren and daughter-in-law. To ensure accessibility, volunteers provided a specialized beach wheelchair that allowed her to reach the water's edge. The trip included a meal overlooking the sea and time spent enjoying the coastal air.

The Wünschewagen project has been operating since 2014, utilizing approximately 2,000 volunteers nationwide to grant special final wishes to terminally ill individuals. The service is provided free of charge to passengers and their companions, funded primarily through donations and volunteer engagement.
